Once all tour participants have arrived, we’ll gather for a warm welcome meeting and refreshments, complete with introductions. This session will provide essential information about your New Zealand-Aotearoa tour and your stay in Auckland. We’ll also delve into practical details and preparations, including motorcycle and car rental checkouts. The evening’s agenda is centered around fostering camaraderie as we get to know each other, all while enjoying a dinner that embodies the authentic Kiwi style.

We spend an exhilarating day in Auckland, a city where the charm lies in its proximity to beautiful beaches, hiking trails, and enchanting islands. Blessed with a sunny climate and infused with Polynesian culture, Auckland boasts a passion for outstanding food, wine, and shopping. From top-end designers to lively street markets, the city offers a diverse range of experiences. Take in the vibrant atmosphere of Viaduct Harbor, Wynyard Quarter, and Parnell, exploring various cafes, restaurants, and nightlife.

A must-visit is Auckland’s Sky Tower, standing at 328 meters, making it the tallest artificial structure in New Zealand. The tower provides breathtaking views spanning up to 80 kilometers in every direction. Elevate your experience by ascending in a glass elevator to one of the three stunning viewing platforms. For a thrill, engage in the Sky Walk around the 192-meter high pergola or take a daring leap with the Sky Jump. Indulge in Peter Gordon’s elegant restaurant, The Sugar Club, or unwind with coffee and light refreshments at Sky Café. For a unique dining experience, head to “Orbit,” the endearing 360-degree rotating restaurant. The Sky Tower stands as one of New Zealand’s most exhilarating attractions.

In the afternoon, we set out to pick up our bikes—late-model editions prepared and equipped with all necessary insurance.

(Driving day 1: 301 km/188 miles)

When everyone is ready on their bikes, we start our ride on the 2.850 miles / 4.600 km long New Zealand – Aotearoa adventure. Auckland disappears behind us as we head east for a unique adventure full of tradition, twisty roads, spectacular nature, breathtaking coastlines and fun. We drive to Coromandel TOP 10 Holiday Park, where we eat lunch.

Coromandel Forest Park borders the area and provides many other outdoor experiences, including short walks, mountain bike trails and old gold mining sites. The town also has one of the best shopping centers in the region. We continue our amazing journey along the east coast, stopping several times along the way where we can experience this spectacular nature before we arrive at our destination for the evening in Whangamatā.

Kiwis say Whangamatā one of the best beaches in New Zealand, it has some of the best surf breaks, yet safest to swim in Aotearoa New Zealand. Famous for its unique combination of sand, sun, bush, and relaxed village vibe means Kiwi holidaymakers flock to the ocean beaches and saltwater estuaries of Whangamatā to enjoy this popular aquatic playground. But there is so much more to this seaside town, it is also home of the Beach Hop, a five-day celebration of the ’50s and ’60s culture.

(Driving day 2: 173 km/107 miles)

Our enchanting journey on Route 25 through the mountains leads us to Rotorua, a city renowned for its bubbling mud pools, erupting geysers, natural hot springs, and rich Māori culture. Rotorua offers a diverse range of attractions, from pristine streams and enchanting forests to thrilling biking trails and therapeutic thermal mud pools, catering to adventurers and those seeking relaxation alike.

Nestled within the Pacific Rim of Fire, Rotorua stands as a geothermal wonderland, featuring bubbling mud pools, billowing clouds of steam, and inviting natural hot springs ideal for bathing and unwinding. After exploring the unique landscapes and volcanic phenomena in a geothermal park, you can enjoy a leisurely soak in a natural hot stream or treat yourself to a rejuvenating wellness experience at a luxurious spa. The afternoon and evening will be dedicated to immersing ourselves in the wonders of this captivating destination.

(Driving day 3: 274 km/170 miles)

Our day commences with a breathtaking journey along the shores of Lake Rotorua, followed by a thrilling ride on Route 2, navigating through picturesque and winding mountain roads as we traverse the mountains en route to Gisborne. As the capital of the northeast region, situated at the Bay of Poverty Bay, Gisborne welcomes us with its charm. Our evening includes a delightful dinner at Bar Marina Park, providing a perfect setting to savor the local atmosphere.

(Driving day 4: 329 km/204 miles)

Embarking on a day filled with awe-inspiring roads and encounters with nature, our journey from Gisborne takes us southeast through breathtaking mountain landscapes and picturesque coastlines. Traveling along some of the finest roads on the North Island, we make various stops to appreciate the many scenic wonders en route to our final destination for the day: Lake Taupō.

Lake Taupō, a stunning natural wonder, is comparable in size to Singapore, resembling more of an inland sea. Formed by a colossal volcanic eruption nearly two thousand years ago, the lake boasts evidence of its fiery origin in the form of geysers, steaming craters, and boiling mud pools, which can be explored at the Craters of the Moon. Additionally, some of Taupō’s beaches offer the unique experience of swimming and paddling in warm geothermal water currents.

(Driving day 5: 312 km/194 miles)

Departing from the stunning Lake Taupō, we set out to traverse one of the most exceptional motorcycle roads in New Zealand: The Forgotten (World) Highway, also known as Route 43. Constructed on colonial bridle paths dating back to the late 19th century, this highway is characterized by its remote and mysterious ambiance. Described by locals as “a bit upsy downsy,” it’s a classic New Zealand understatement for a road that gracefully follows the rugged contours of the land, offering a natural roller coaster experience. This journey is truly extraordinary, so be sure to have your cameras ready to capture the breathtaking scenery!

(Driving day 6: 388 km/241 miles)

Get ready for another exhilarating day of driving along the captivating west coast of the North Island. As we cruise along the beautiful coastline, the stunning scenery will accompany us until we reach our ultimate destination for the day: Wellington. Nestled in the southern part of the North Island, Wellington is a picturesque city situated between a charming harbor and verdant green hills. Boasting a population of over 380,000 residents, it stands as the largest capital in Oceania and was founded in the 1840s.

(Driving day 7: 114 km/74 miles)

Gear up for what might be the most breathtaking ferry journey of your life. We kick off early to catch the first ferry to the South Island, renowned for hosting some of the most stunning motorcycle routes and nature encounters.

Ensure you have a clear mind, allowing you to fully savor the journey across the South Island, embracing the roads along the fjords, the coast, and mountain passes. Today is all about immersing yourself in the wonders of nature.

(Fun and explorer day – 302 km/188 miles)

Today, you have the option to take a break, explore, and enjoy the attractions in Nelson. Alternatively, you can join us for a truly magnificent ride up the Abel Tasman National Park on Route 60. You have the flexibility to go as far as you wish, with Collingwood being a highly recommended destination.

Abel Tasman National Park may be New Zealand’s smallest national park, but it is perfectly designed for both relaxation and adventure. This coastal paradise is easily accessible, offering opportunities for exploration by land, water, or air. Choose from a variety of activities, including cruises, water taxis, kayaking, helitours, and sailing catamarans. While summer is a popular time to visit, locals believe that the shoulder seasons provide the best experience with crisp mornings, calm waters, and quiet beaches. Luxurious lodges are available for those seeking home comforts, but sleeping under the stars is considered the ultimate way to connect with the spirit of the Abel Tasman.

We return to spend another fun evening in Nelson.

(Driving day 8: 283 km/176 miles)

Prepare for another breathtaking journey as we travel south on Route 6 toward Cape Foulwind. Following that, we’ll continue our route south along the spectacular coastline, ultimately reaching Punakaiki.

(Driving day 9: 377 km/234 miles)

We commence the day with an awe-inspiring ride up the mountain to Arthur’s Pass National Park, pausing to relish the spectacular views and scenery in Arthur’s Pass Village. Following that, we chart our course to the charming Fox Glacier nestled in the wooded foothills of the Southern Alps. Fox Glacier offers opportunities for glacier walks, hikes, and aerial tours. Today’s journey on Route 6 along the west coast of the South Island is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful routes in the region.

We’ll make several brief stops to fully absorb the breathtaking surroundings. Upon reaching Fox Glacier, we’ll embark on a glacier tour. In close proximity to Fox Glacier lies the picturesque Lake Matheson, renowned as one of the most photographed lakes in New Zealand. On clear days, the lake reflects the stunning Mount Cook.

(Driving day 10: 353 km/219 miles)

Once again, we embark on Route 6, tracing the coastline before ascending into the mountains. A stop in Haast precedes our journey through Mount Aspiring National Park, meandering past mountain lakes and traversing breathtaking natural landscapes. The route offers delightful, winding roads leading us to the charming destination of Queenstown.

An exhilarating holiday in New Zealand is synonymous with “Queenstown.” This vibrant resort destination caters to a diverse range of interests, offering adventures that fulfill every desire, whether it’s sports, nature experiences, or culinary discoveries – Queenstown has it all!

Situated in Otago, in the southwest of New Zealand’s South Island, Queenstown is a bustling hub known for its tourist-friendly atmosphere and adventurous spirit. Beyond being a central hub for various snow sports, the city beckons visitors with an array of thrilling activities such as bungee jumping, water skiing, and mountain biking. Today, you’ll immerse yourself in the excitement and exploration of Queenstown.

(Driving day 11: 359 km/233 miles)

Embarking on today’s journey, we traverse the stunning landscapes known as “Fjord country” in New Zealand. It promises another extraordinary day immersed in nature. Our route takes us along breathtaking roads, winding through mountain passes as we make our way towards Dunedin. Along this scenic drive, you’ll encounter places that may seem too enchanting to believe. As we approach Dunedin, the ride will take us through the picturesque Taeiri River Mouth. Get ready to capture the beauty with your cameras!

(Driving day 12: 317 km/197 miles)

Embrace another day of awe-inspiring coastal and mountain driving, enriched with remarkable natural encounters. Our journey kicks off with a magical coastal drive to Oamaru, with a special note to keep an eye out for penguins along the way. Following the coastal adventure, we ascend into the mountains toward Lake Pukaki, treating ourselves to a spectacular ride leading us to Mount Cook National Park. The night will be spent in this breathtaking sanctuary, surrounded by the captivating beauty of nature.

(Driving day 13: 404 km/251 miles)

Embarking on our final riding day, we approach the bittersweet conclusion of our New Zealand Adventure. Commencing the day with another enchanting ride along Lake Pukaki, we then veer onto Route 8 towards Tercuka. Ascending to higher elevations, we make our way to today’s destination—Christchurch, the largest city on the South Island, nestled on the east coast.

Upon returning the bikes, and shedding our riding gear for light summer clothing, we spend the evening near the hotel. Here, we gather for a farewell dinner, reminiscing about the incredible journey and preparing for our journey back home.

Farewell to the enchanting New Zealand – Aotearoa Adventure! As we return home, we travel together as a group by shuttle to the airport. We express our gratitude for the memorable ride, the good times shared, and sincerely thank you for choosing to tour with Club Xplorer.
